ca roule ma poule (that wheels my chicken)
rod brings home helpful vocabulary from french class. tonight he taught me hachis parmentier.
we had hachis parmentier (shepherd's pie) after mei-mei berssenbrugge's reading at georgetown last thursday, but it was smothered in cheese.
the georgetown reading was on a rainy thursday, just like lisa robertson's reading earlier this fall. brenda hillman read various poems including one having to do with string theory. mei-mei read mostly from i love artists.
during the seminar brenda said she has spent a lot of time talking to rocks and mei-mei said, you know, rocks can move all by themselves.

welsh rarebit
Chris Nealon and Dora & Sally help Adam Good with his order Welsh Rarebit after Lisa Robertson's reading at Georgetown; Mel Nichols introduces Lisa to Flash the Basset Hound at the end of a rainy evening in DC.
Lisa Robertson read from Rousseau's Boat and The Men. She was brilliant. Rousseau's Boat is a still expanding series first published as a chapbook in 2004. She described this work as an index of last lines from 20 years of notebooks.
By the way, we weren't sure that the Welsh Rarebit was authentic Welsh Rarebit. It was more like cheese dip served with toast. Also of note: "Vivid nightmares are famously attributed to overindulgence in Welsh [rarebit]." Acccording to Wikipedia.
